How does cigarette darken the lips? is there a way to avoid darkening?

This answer is from a smoker so I'm definitely not here to judge...





Cigarettes stain your lips and fingers. The stains are commonly referred to as nicotine stains - and that is exactly what they are. Have you ever dropped a cigarette in a bowl of water and watched what happens? Before long, the water turns yellowish, then brown. It's because nicotine is that color. When you smoke a lot (a pack a day?) you wind up with these stains because smokers tend to hold their cigarettes in the same place and smoke from the same point on their mouth.





To avoid it...





The best way, honestly, IS to quit. Have you ever seen those old men with white mustaches but they have a yellowish patch of hair right where they smoke? That's nicotine. As soon as you stop smoking, this will start to fade.





Another way to avoid it, or reduce it - drink lots of water. Also, after smoking, try to wash your hands and rinse your face. Wiping your face off with a damp washcloth will remove external nicotine/smoke residue that will otherwise sit on your skin and stain it over time. If you wash your hands and use lotion after smoking these stains will start to go away.





Honestly, it's a huge part of why I want to quit sooner than later as well. But, since it's hard to quit, if you aren't planning on trying anytime soon - try the above, it should reduce the staining.How does cigarette darken the lips? is there a way to avoid darkening?

Nicotine and tar is staining and to avoid is to quite.
a way to avoid it is to STOP SMOKING!!!!! get a grip and pull your life together and STOP SMOKING unless you wanna die at 30 years of age.
