My hamster has swollen lips?

My dwarf russian hamster is 1 year old and I noticed that his bottom lip is getting larger and swollen. Why is this happening? I never heard of this!My hamster has swollen lips?
this can be cause by some different things, have you changed his diet lately? given him any different foods? has he escaped and may have eaten something you didn't know of? he may be allergic to to whatever u fed him, go back to the normal diet and see if it goes down





also, do u have something for the hamster to chew on? their teeth are always growing because they have no roots, and if they don't have a chew stick, or wires, or something to chew on, there teeth can grow too long, and his teeth may be irratating his lip, try putting wood chew sticks in the cage for him to chew on, also you can try seeded or hard treat sticks if he doesn't like the chew sticks





do you have a wire cage? maybe one of the wires has gotten lose and has cut his lip. it could also be a piece of plastic that has been broken off the food fish or the side of he cage, and he chewed on it and cut his lip





hamster get tumors, it is very common for hamsters to get these, he may have a tumor on his face. this isn't uncommon, and it probably will result in death, espcially if not checked upon by a vet, but honestly, i don't think its a tumor, i think its more that it was a cut on his lip





any of those ways, i think you should take him to a vet, because it is probably caused by a cut, and because the mouth has the most bacteria out of any part of the body, it can get infected really easily, and if it keep getting larger, i think it might be infected, so this should be checked up on by a vet to treat the lip, because home remedies usually do not work, and it could possibly make it worseMy hamster has swollen lips?
It's teeth might be overgrown and irritating their bottom lip when they are chewing. Did you give it something wooden for them to chew on? You should take it to the vet and they can trim their teeth or find out if they are allergic to anything.

Well im no expert or anthing but it sounds like he maybe allergic to something hes eating or something in his cage so maybe u could try swithching food for a while and if that dosen't work then take him to the vet.
